Ideology

Ever since I became interested in coaching and therapy I have been obsessive about discovering the best tools and strategies that enable us to make changes in our lives.

I still have to this day a real conflict with what we are sold to believe works, yet fails in life’s real emergencies.

A large amount of methodologies fall very short of the ‘marketing spin doctors prophecies’ for our guaranteed transformation.

So often I have read a new theory or gone on courses that promise a simple system of change and yet, when things really go wrong, which is so often does in life, these so called magic bullets just do not hold up.

With Tonk Training I wanted to somehow separate myth from reality and what I believe works and why.

I wanted to provide my clients with an authentic understanding of change work.

My intention has always been to provide a way to change our perspectives and to see things differently.

Once we can do that we can then apply the principles and tools that stand the test of time in real life.

And not only this, it has always been important to me that we understand what it takes to achieve, develop and maintain those changes into the future.

A lot of what I write in the blog section will be from the things I have done or are am going through myself, or things I have seen or read that could be relevant to making significant changes to individuals lives in one form or another.

Some of the muses will be real time thoughts drawn from the writings on my current situation and my analysis of them,

I know from personal experience and from talking to others that there is often a real conflict between how we have been told we should feel or behave in certain situations compared to how we really respond.

Its only until we start talking to others and being honest in these situations do we begin to realise how many of us think the same way and yet how different these thoughts are from the theoretical blue print of correctness.

We all have things going on in our lives, and much of it is that same as everyone else’s problems once we start talking about it.

And that’s how we often just learn to cope, but still stay stuck.

But coping can be about self management. Self management is about leadership. Leadership is about responsibility. And taking responsibility is about having faith in something better and then taking action towards that future.

Tonk Training is about learning to adopt this idea and how to personally engineer it.
